Personal Description:

Hello Students! I started teaching twenty five years ago and still am! I love meeting new students and enjoy motivating them to achieve their goals. I live in Dorset near Sherborne with my husband and spend time walking near the coast. I go to Dorchester and Bridport for art and the cinema… I love film, drama, reading, cooking and languages. I have travelled to Europe a lot and spent time tin France, Spain and Italy. If I have the chance one day I may teach abroad but I am looking to teach in the UK at the moment. I am experienced to teach across the board from primary to adult.

Teaching Experience:

I gained class room experience working in Montessori and Primary schools . I set up my own Montessori school in Brighton, which still exists today. Keen to work with the secondary age group, I tutored French, English and Spanish across the board motivating students to achieve their goals in developing conversation skills and confidence to pass and improve exam results. Five years ago, I took the CELTA course ( TEFL) and have since worked in International Schools, where I have met Spanish, Italian, German, Japanese,Russian and French students. This summer I worked at Sherborne International School, where the students had fun improving their conversation skills through games, films and group participation.I am looking at working with the ILETS also for those who need to pass the exam to work in the UK or improve their spoken and written skills. I teach face to face and on line .

Teaching Approach:

One of the most important things about teaching is patience and the awareness of the need to communicate with Learners at their level. I am with the students to stimulate their interests and encourage their goals. Where the Learner is shy of conversation, I provide an enthusiastic support. Encouraging the Learner to lead the way is the way forward. Speaking clearly and slowly is important for foreign language students to increase their confidence and comprehension.
I monitor students through daily assessment. Feedback from the students informs me what I have taught well. I have the ability to reflect on what I have taught and what the Learner has gained from it. Resources used are relevant to the students background and skill sets and the lessons are fun. Films, games and worksheets motivate the Learner to enjoy the learning experience and gain in confidence.
Where exam preparation is necessary, regular lessons are necessary to encourage success.
Teaching is part of life and learning is an ongoing process and enjoyment is key to learning.
