Personal Description:

Hello, I am a final year student of philosophy, originally from Hong Kong and Japan but currently studying at the University of York. Brought up in a trilingual family (Japanese, Cantonese and English), I can speak all of these languages natively, as well as Mandarin fluently and to a very high level. I have studied all of these languages up to high school diploma level, graduating with exceptional results.

Teaching Experience:

I have volunteered to teach a small conversation class of Japanese at the University of York, but most of my experience had been in teaching English to ESL learners, ranging from toddlers to adults. I also have considerable experience supervising academic essay writing.

Teaching Approach:

I believe it is always important to make the subject interesting for the learner. As someone who grew up raised by a Japanese mother and surrounded by Japanese culture, I’ve been fully immersed and can provide interesting cultural insights in addition to fundamental language tips. I have been described as meticulous in my approach, focussing on details and pushing learners towards perfection.
