I am an enthusiastic linguist, and have previously loved tutoring languages, hence why I am placing my profile back up.
Having grown up for part of my childhood in Southern France, and with a family originating from Switzerland, I have been privileged to learn French at a young age. This was when my passion for languages was ignited, and I continued to take both French and German through school and pursued my degree in these too.
Presently I would love to dive into using my language skills again and to have the joy in sharing these with others. I am a very friendly, warm and engaging person.
A few years ago I tutored a university student in beginner's German over a course of 9 months. This was a great experience for me to plan and lead my own sessions regularly. He did very well and we both enjoyed our sessions.
Just before heading to University I spent the summer in France where I aupaired two young boys, teaching them some English alongside. I have done a similar thing on a work placement in Germany too.
During my teens my mother led an English summer school for French teens. I helped her with the classes and material, as well as befriending the students and ensuring they enjoyed their experience. One of which, as it happens, became a close pen friend.
Creative by nature, I like to make sessions as interactive and interesting as possible. I believe it is important to ensure the learner feels supported, encouraged and able to share freely. Hence I will cultivate a friendly and positive atmosphere, allowing teaching to be structured according to the pupil's optimum way of learning and needs.
I think learning is endless and extremely variable from one person to the next. I value bringing creativity and fun to my sessions, and seeing the learner be intrigued and generally have fun whilst they learn. I think that a good challenge can be most rewarding, so I like to mix it up with the occasional new task.
It's essential that the learner enjoys her/himself, whilst gaining confidence and expertise in the language!
I will aim to present grammatical aspects as clearly and logically as possible, including my own methods for learning, through tables and interesting visual images. I have found that some forms of learning language can be rather unimaginative and difficult to grasp, hence I like to add a splash of colour where possible.
