My name is Elio, I am a very reliable person. Kind to everyone, patient, and very well organised. I'm passionate about teaching Italian language and enrich my lessons with notions of Italian culture. Curious about Italian dialects and traditions beneath each area of the territory.
I have studied English and German language and literature in my BA, and English translation, along with literature, in my MA.
I have experience in teaching Italian to migrants in Naples, my hometown, and in the UK.
September 2016 - On Going: Italian Language Assistant at St. Maurice's High School in Cumbernauld, Glasgow.
November 2015 - June 2016: Italian Tutor at The Italian Cultural Institute in London. Levels A1, A2, B1.
June 2015 - July 2015: Italian Tutor, 150 hours, as part of my teacher training course at The Italian Cultural Institute in London.
I am firmly convinced that a language can be learned only with a constant basis work and practice with authentic texts, in order to develop and improve reading comprehension skills, as well as dealing with a real and genuine use of the language. And authentic audio registrations, in order to develop and improve listening and understanding skills.
I personally help students developing these very skills with some exercises and with helpful speaking sessions, interacting with the students, or, in a class, having the students interact in pairs or small groups.
Along with these activities I let my students write some short or medium-length texts, related to what has been studied, in order to test their lexicon, and their awareness of the use of the language, as well as capability of structuring correct coherent and cohesive sentences, providing individual correction and discussion of the errors.
I let the students extrapolate the grammar from the texts and the exercise I assign to them, in order to make everything more dynamic and develop the students' awareness of the language, then providing clear explanations of the rules of syntax as a support to the students' process of learning.
All my books, valid support to teaching and learning, are up-to-date texts providing good quality materials, and numerous online resources, for self-learning, or simply to have a bit of fun during spare time.
