This is how 2 referees rated Claire:
I am a French native from the Bretagne region of France. I first came to the UK in 2009 when I moved to Swansea, Wales to spend a year as an exchange student in Swansea University. It has always been my greatest ambition to lea
rn to speak a second language fluently as I firmly believe that languages are increasingly vital skills to possess in our ever changing world in order to be able to communicate effectively. My passion for teaching flourished when I was teaching adults English, as part of my master’s degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language in Swansea University. It made me aware of how to communicate with those who need specialist language help and I feel that my ability to contribute to their learning was one of the most positive experiences of my life.
I spent a year as a Foreign Language Assistant in a private school in Brecon working closely with Year 12 and 13 students preparing them for their exams. Additionally, I trained as a teacher of Modern Foreign Languages six years ago, and I have been teaching in secondary schools ever since, getting my students excellent results at GCSE. I have been praised personally by Ofsted, the School Commissioners, and my school's Senior Leadership Team on many occasions for my dedication and commitment to students. In recognition of my positive and effective use of available resources and teaching methods, I have been asked to lead staff training in secondary schools.
As a teacher, I am enthusiastic about my subject and demonstrate my passion for languages in all my lessons. My lessons are engaging and I use a range of effective classroom management techniques allowing my students to achieve their full potential. I regularly use technology in my teaching, either to full classes or individuals, to try and engage young people in their learning in a way that is familiar to them. Resources I like to use in my planning and teaching include Youtube, Memrise, and Quizlet. I always use a variety of teaching techniques and resources in order to enable pupils to develop their communicative and thinking skills, whilst stimulating their interests and meeting their individual needs.
