Personal Description:
I am an enthusiastic teacher and like working with people of all levels and abilities. Because I have experience of teaching both first and second language speakers, I am able to give specialised help with grammar and with reading and writing problems experienced by those who are 'not very good at English'. I believe that most students can achieve success and am able to give the help and encouragement to promote their confidence to do so. At the higher levels I have the knowledge and expertise needed to equip students to succeed in A level and above.
Teaching Experience:
I have 12 years experience of teaching A level and GCSE English. At A level I have taught English Language, English Language and Literature and English Literature.
I have been an examiner for A level Literature and Language and Literature and for GCSE English.
I have taught English for Speakers of other languages at all levels for 6 years.
Teaching Approach:
I take a positive approach to teaching and always ensure I start for where the student actually is in terms of ability, knowledge and aptitude. I am patient but prepared to be firm if necessary. I always make sure that tasks set are interesting and relevant to both subject and student

Mary took her time to explain the requirements and work through the GCSE book with my daughter step by step and the amount of homework she was given each time really benefitted her.
I am very pleased to say that she passed her exam this time.

From Stuti (/5): Christina was very helpful and patient, she was good at identifying the issues that my brother was having with practising for his GCSE English exam and would break it down for him into manageable chunks. She was also thorough in her feedback for any past paper answers that my brother sent her. She had a friendly but firm approach to teaching and my brother felt at ease from the first tutoring session. I would strongly recommend her!

Not only did she help my daughter who was initially getting E's achieve a passing grade, she also helped my niece get an A in hers! As Christina only had half a year to tutor them, I believe that they could have gotten so much better grades if we had met Christina earlier! My daughter has also told me that she enjoyed her lessons with Christina as she made it interesting for her.

From Laura (/5): My daughter has found her sessions with Christina really helpful. My daughter (year 10) struggled sometimes with knowing how to start to answer a question and how to answer it fully for higher marks and having someone to talk that over with in her own home has really helped - this has really shown in recent end of year exams where she gained B's rather than D's so hopefully this will rise to A's by next year.
Although I do not sit in the sessions I have been assured that they are very beneficial and my daughter finds Christina really easy to get on with, and has gained some insight into the subject that was lacking from school.
It has made my daughter a lot more confident in English, which can only be a good thing.
