I am an enthusiastic teacher of Spanish, French, and English. I got my Bachelor (Honours) degree at the University of Barcelona in 2018 with a 1st/Class I in French and English. I teach Spanish and French at any level, I have spent long periods in France and currently living in the UK. Meanwhile the University period, I obtained the highest possible grade, which once validated in the UK is a 1st or Class I.
The last two years I have collaborated with the NGO "Fundació Educació Solidària" in Barcelona as a teacher of Spanish at various levels and ages, from teenagers to adults. For the same NGO, I am currently working as a translator (Spanish, English, French and Catalan). I have also worked for a self-study centre, the CMR, teaching French, Spanish and English for students trying to access the university.
I love transmitting enthusiasm for languages; to my students. My classes are predominantly focused on the communicative approach to help to lose the fear of speaking and being able to express themselves from the beginning. Grammar is essential but always from the point of view that you have to put into practice what you learn immediately. Memorise vocabulary and rules is not what is needed to learn a language, you have to learn, fix and practice so that the results can be seen from the beginning.
Unless you are an absolute beginner, I ask you to take a level test to check your skills. I am available all days of the week. I have some students that I teach mainly from Monday to Thursday, but you can ask the current availability. Since June 2019, I was tutoring at Watford, but as I came back to Barcelona to do a Master degree, I am currently teaching online via Skype. I have my own website with lots of resources and the material required to follow the course chosen. I don't teach young students, but I can do exceptions.
Ask me for availability.
Mainly proud of my work in the NGO "; Fundació Educació Solidària"; helping immigrants with the risk of exclusion from society. A job that receives the most rewarding rewards because you help people who truly need. I Also collaborate with the CMR, a school that is mostly focused on obtaining the official baccalaureate degrees, the access to middle and high school, as well as the access to the university for over 25 years old. In recent years, I have helped students to access the university by giving private classes in English and French.
The last two years, I have given lessons to university students, especially in the most complicated subjects of English studies, such as phonetics I & II, descriptive grammar I, II & III, among others. Last academic year, I was working as a Spanish Language Assistant.
Communicative approach although I adapt to the needs of my students. Everybody is different and has specific needs.

Madison: I met Carlos during my Erasmus in Barcelona, my level of Spanish was poor, and he taught me Spanish for a few months in many classes. The classes were excellent and enjoyable, appropriate to my degree in a very focused way, but with the flexibility to adapt to questions, additional explanations or a particular interest because of my subjects at the UB. While taking classes at the University of Barcelona, I needed to progress quickly, on the right foot. I feel that this balance was well achieved by the correct combination of explanations with examples and positive stimulus to move forward and do more when I could. The classes were always intended for oral expression, and that helped me a lot to speak fluently and also to improve quickly in oral comprehension. Just what I needed! Without these classes, I would not have been able to pass the UB's subjects! Many thanks Carles! ¡He was a ray of sunshine!
Maria Pau: I had been lucky enough to work with Carlos for the last four years as a student/teacher partners at the University of Barcelona. It was a pleasure to work with him, and I can say he is one of the best-prepared teachers regarding languages. He never shirks responsibility and knows how to transmit knowledge, something fundamental for teaching, to students. His expertise in the Catalan, Spanish, French and English languages is impressive, so I can assure you that choosing him as your foreign language teacher will be the best decision ever.
Patricia: Carlos is an excellent teacher. He is very responsible and friendly and always plans his classes in a way that fits your individual needs. His classes are dynamic and interesting, you will always learn something new with him sometimes even without realising how much you are learning. I would recommend him to anyone!
Esther: Carlos and I were working as teachers in an academy for people applying to the university. During this time, I realised his tremendous knowledge of the languages he teaches and the fantastic way he transmits his knowledge to his students.
In two years, I become so much more confident as a teacher, thanks to him. I found that Carles’ style of teaching and encouragement at every stage was conducive, and it built the confidence the students needed to speak fluently French and English.
He prepares his classes carefully and uses all-new kind of technology to take advantage of it. One of the most amazing things I saw in person, it is the amount of time he spends on his website and all the material that he goes up weekly to help his students. I do not know where he gets the time! Nevertheless, the students appreciate it, and it helps them set knowledge.
His classes are highly recommended!
Eva: I have met Carlos few years ago at the University of Barcelona and we were studying the same degree, Modern Languages as well we were teaching as a teacher team at one NGO.
Carlos is very organized, always punctual, and very responsible with the job. He always had his classes very well prepared, he also have a personal website where he is constantly working on to upload new materials for his students. There he have many resources to help them to revise when they want. Carlos know how to make his students self-confident and he is so motivated that the students level increases very fast.
During the four years we studied together, He was a model for me for his skills, his ability to organize, and to work in a team and to increase the level of his students in the NGO where he worked.
I highly recommend him because the wonderful experience I had studying Modern Languages at the University of Barcelona, and I am sure that you will love him.
He is a safe bet!
Siân: I had the good fortune to teach Carlos English a couple of years ago. We set up an intensive programme of study, especially focussing on structure and phonetics, which he had prioritised as per his degree in Linguistics.
Carlos is the most committed, hard working student I have ever known. He has a passion and natural flair for language. His previous knowledge of linguistic systems meant that he was able to put learning from our sessions into practice immediately.
Our time together and shared love of language has meant that we have become good friends and keep each other in line with our second languages and up to date on theory. I have been delighted to watch him progress through his degree and become a teacher himself. A lesson with Carlos will be a lesson with someone who can show you the workings and beauty of his languages.

In addition to the one on one conversations, Carlos uses various methods that include a whiteboard, listening exercises and worksheets. I would highly recommend Carlos as a tutor
