Information About Benedetta - Edinburgh teacher

Personal Description:

Ciao amici,

My name is Benedetta and I'm an experienced Italian tutor. I started giving Italian lessons in 2013 when I moved to Australia as I love sharing my cultures and getting to know new people. In Australia, I had more than 15 students and I have always been so lucky to create fantastic friendships with my students!
I moved to Edinburgh for my PhD last year and I started right away teaching Italian. At the moment I have more than 10 students.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching families with kids, students (both High school and University), young people, and adults (professionals and retired)… I have been the official translator for an Australian couple in Italy (she was one of my amazing students back in Brisbane!) and have been giving language support for translating official documents. I have always had very good feedback.

I have experience with all levels, from very beginners to more advanced, to one-on-one and groups. This is my 7th year as a teacher that has taught me a lot about teaching Italian to foreigners.

Teaching Approach:

I have my own grammar books that I print for every lesson and now send through email where we focus on a specific topic while we learn about grammar, some cultural interesting bits, and vocabulary. For example, the first lesson is about greetings and introducing each other. By learning the vocabulary with many speaking and reading exercises, we also start to look at the main verbs (to be and to have) and numbers. We practice speaking together while I give listening exercises, reading comprehensions and general exercises as homework. I also send a chapter of a book every week, with some very entertaining stories!
I change the lesson depending on the students and their needs. If I teach kids, I usually prepare games so that the family can play during the week while learning!
