I live in Surrey, England. I enjoy walking with the dog in the countryside, and going to London for shows and art exhibitions. I studied history and political science at university, so I am happy to discuss current affairs and what is happening in the world. I also studied French at A Level, although I'm a bit rusty. I try to have lessons when I have time. I go to church and I enjoy helping out with one or two charities.
I have been teaching EFL/ESOL for many years, mostly at Further Education and Adult Education colleges in England. I have also been teaching online for the last ten years or so. I have taught exam classes in KET,PET,FCE and CAE and IELTS, successfully covering the materials to help students gain excellent grades.
I try to look at global issues, as well as introducing something of British culture, depending on the learner's needs. Most recently I have taught exam courses at a local language school.
I hope to make the lessons personal and communicative. I will discuss with you about what you'd like to do and to achieve and what would suit your learning needs and aims. I give and ask for regular feedback and encourage learners to be responsible for their own learning. I am delighted to use materials provided by the learner or can find materials from the internet, or use a course book. Depending on your learning style, we can use recordings, videos, readings and so on. I am pretty flexible, so we can cover most topics such as literature and politics. I teach exam classes, revision, business English or conversation. I aim to build on your strengths and improve any weaknesses, increasing your confidence in your learning, while challenging you to develop your knowledge of the language. I like to build a good relationship with my students, have fun, but work hard. Please feel to contact me and ask me any questions.
