I am a London born teacher of art and English as a foreign language. Language opens doors to experiences.
I work part time for an English e-learning company on language content. I also have a postgraduate in art theory and continue my practice as an artist whilst teaching English and art in the South East.
Language fascinates me and learning Spanish and French has aided my language teaching skills. I am widely traveled and lived in Latin America for a year and a half and enjoy learning about new cultures and political, environmental and social issues.
I have extensive experience teaching English as a foreign language to both adults and children. Following my CELTA qualification, in which i gained distinction, I have taught in private institutes and to private students of all levels in London, Argentina and Guatemala.
I also have experience teaching Business English to a wide range of clients with focus on everyday office correspondence, presentations and business writing. I have also delivered teacher training presentations on British pronunciation. My experience with younger learners includes ages 8-18, including a young boy with learning difficulties.
I also have experience assisting with academic English and proofreading assignments.
Above all, learning needs to be fun and relevant to each student. Classes are always be student orientated, focusing on the needs, personality and interests of the student. I encourage an enjoyable learning process focusing on personal goals and skill development according to the student's wishes.
I am a patient and understanding teacher who encourages students to build confidence, which I believe is a fundamental base for progression. What is studied relates to real life situations, incorporating a diverse range of materials and media. I work with students in all language areas; grammar, pronunciation, reading, writing listening and vocabulary, focusing on areas for improvement. I believe that language learning should be fun and create enjoyable lessons in a supportive environment where the student feels at ease.
I am a very flexible and approachable teacher, sensitivite to students' needs and approach. If the student is happy to do so, I like to set small 'homework' assignments to complete in between classes.
I am happy to teach small groups and couples.
