Information About Alison - Great Yarmouth teacher

Personal Description:

I have recently retired from a long career of teaching MFL and English. I live in a coastal village in Norfolk and enjoy gardening, cooking, music and reading. In normal times I love travelling to new places and I particularly like visiting Germany and Austria. I have 3 adult children. Although I no longer work in a school I am still passionate to share my love and knowledge of the German and French languages and cultures with learners of all ages and levels.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught MFL for over 40 years. Since 2013 I have worked at a Sixth Form College, teaching AS & A Level German, AS French and GCSE English. Prior to that I worked in several 11-16 high schools, firstly in the West Midlands then, from 1984 onwards, in Norfolk.

Teaching Approach:

My aim is to encourage and support students to achieve the best possible level of success. I believe that lessons should be varied and should include elements of the 4 language-learning skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. I prepare lessons thoroughly and mark work quickly, always ensuring that a student receives detailed feedback. I believe that lessons should be structured but also fun. I use online material, such as German or French news reports or other websites to enhance lessons.
