Information About Aled - Oxford teacher
This is how 2 referees rated Aled:
I have recently completed the second year of my Spanish and Linguistics BA at the University of Oxford.
With regard to Spanish, I specialise in the translation of modern Spanish texts (both English to Spanish and Spanish to English), the evolution and structure of the Spanish language, and Spanish American literature of the 19th and 20th century.
I am from Germany originally for which reason I am a native speaker of German. I completed my A-Levels in the UK; I got an A* in Spanish, German and Classical Greek as well as an A in Latin at AS-Level. Before studying, I spent one year in Latin America from which stems my fluency in the language.
For one year I worked as a full-time primary and secondary school teacher in Honduras (Central America) teaching classes ranging between five and forty in size. Further to this, I have experience in mentoring, the Oxford interview process and teaching German one-to-one at beginner’s level.
Personally, I am teaching myself Russian ab initio and am fully aware of the difficulties that language learning presents.
I establish what goals my students have and we then set targets together. Language learning, whether for an exam or for general enjoyment, relies on regular and gradual progression which often proves to be the hardest aspect - this does not need to be the case.
In order for my students to excel, I identify through their errors what they find most challenging. Following this, I use of visual, aural and conceptual aides so that my students understand explanations and remember them when it matters.
