Personal Description:
Born in Canada, I have lived in the US, France, Italy, Spain and Cuba, which has great breadth to my language studies. I am a writer and translator who is passionate about words and languages and cultures. Teaching has always been part of my life and I enjoy forging relationships with my students, several of whom have gone on to live abroad and use their language skills on a daily basis at very advanced levels.
Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching languages for over 25 years: Italian, French, Spanish and English as a Second Language. I hold degrees in my subject as well as teaching qualifications and am specialised in languages for special purposes, particularly business and music. I have taught in one-to-one settings as well as classroom teaching at university level and have worked with learners from beginners to highly advanced.
Teaching Approach:
There are many different approaches to learning languages, many of them excellent. I prefer an integrated approach, using aspects of different methods in a tailor made programme for my students' own specific needs. Culture awareness is a vital aspect of learning a language and cultural components are always included in my lessons. Learning a language requires commitment and for this reason I offer discounts for units of 5 or 10 lessons.

Having ripped me off for a free lesson, at which you were supplied with an extensive amount of materials and support, I find it very rude and dishonest of you to give me a 2/5 rating. I will be taking this matter further as your behaviour is unacceptable.

From Nicholas (/5): Jordan has been an excellent inspiration for me to learn Italian. I am making real progress in a structured way. Not just in respect of the language but also pronunciation, Italian culture and their way of life. All very helpful and a part of learning a language. The books, and multi-media materials she has recommends have really helped. Every lesson ends with learning a new song that emphasises the use of Italian, is fun and helps to reinforce the learning. I thoroughly recommend Jordan.

From Jo-Anne (/5): Jordan understands a lot about the culture of Italy and so the class is very rounded and not just about grammar etc. She always ends the class with a song from the internet which makes it fun. I highly recommend Jordan.

From Di (/5): Whilst at school I found learning a new language a real headache and never enjoyed the lessons. My new teacher Jordan is perfect for my style of learning, she is friendly and very patient. In the lessons we are given Italian songs to practice so as to improve the pronunciation. Jordan plays with use The Italian form of Bingo 'Tombola' .which really helps us to learn the Italian numbers. Recently Jordan arranged an Italian film evening for her students at a local cafe, The evening was such a success that she is holding a second event very shortly. Of course we shall be attending! The course book that Jordan advised us to buy is fantastic! the book has lots of stickers to stick on items in the home so that you learn them just by looking around the kitchen. This lady is a gem and I am sure she will be our tutor for many years to come. Di
