Personal Description:

I am a dedicated teaching professional with a background in Engineering. I spent many years in the British Forces and then living and working in Germany. I am well travelled and have experienced a wide variety of cultures European, African and Middle Eastern as well as N.American.

I enjoy the outdoors and spend much of my time Mountaineering and Climbing as well as Sailing .I am currently a volunteer with a charity called Able2Sail which provides sailing experiences for disabled and disadvantaged people.

I also enjoy reading and writing and am currently attempting to write my first novel.

Teaching Experience:

I am an extremely experienced languages tutor . I have been teaching English for 10 years both here in UK and in Germany. My students have ranged from Business people to immigrants and refugees. I began teaching English in Germany as a hobby in 2006 and then qualified as a tutor in 2008.

I transitioned from Engineering to teaching full-time in 2009 in Germany . I worked freelance for companies such as Continental, BASF and DEKRA providing Business English courses for employees of these companies. During this time I also taught refugees to Germany from countries such as Iraq, Syria, Lebannon, and Kurdistan as well as German Abitur students . I successfully tutored one student to a grade 1 pass in English.

The classes were conducted in a variety of environments from factories to modern high-tech office buildings.

In 2014 I moved back to UK and began teaching English on the DWP Language Lift programme designed to help Immigrants and refugees integrate into UK society and increase their employability.

Teaching Approach:

I feel that teaching should be fun as should the learning experience. As a tutor it is my job to make the subject interesting and appealing to the learner, encouraging them to delve deeper into the subject and to impart my love of the language to them.
