Personal Description:

I live in Sutton Coldfield and I am a friendly and approachable person who is passionate about supporting anyone who is interested in learning British Sign Language (BSL).
Whether you are a Beginner, Intermediate, or advanced learner, I am more then happy to assist you in developing your skills. I have an enhanced DBS certificate.
I hope that my overall Bio provides a helpful introduction to what I can offer. My interests are Salsa dancing, quiz nights and travelling. I love walking my 3 year old dog, he is a great member of the family.

Teaching Experience:

With over 13 years of experience in British Sign Language (BSL), I have certificates from Signature (who are the leading awarding body for deaf communication and language qualifications in the UK with all qualifications accredited by Ofqual), having successfully completed Level One - Level Six NVQ. Throughout my learning journey, I have tutored adults and also gained valuable experience working for Four years at a School For The Deaf. During this time I have effectively communicated using BSL with students aged 11-18. My engagement within the Deaf Community has been extensive, including visits to Deaf Social Clubs and active participation in other Deaf events. I have given presentations on BSL, which has inspired genuine audience interest and interaction.

Teaching Approach:

I think it is important to cover Deaf Awareness, the History of British Sign Language (BSL), and body language as part of a student's learning. This will help to build confidence and allow progression. I take an individual approach to tutoring, creating an informal yet engaging and stimulating environment. My teaching style is flexible with no rigid structure as everyone learns differently and should be able to develop at their own relaxed pace.
