Personal Description:

I recently graduated from Imperial College London with a First Class MEng in Aeronautical Engineering, and am currently working within Formula 1 within Performance Simulation & Modelling. I have a strong grounding in both engineering and computational tooling; as is necessary for modern day design and analysis. I am an approachable person, easy going, and have only recently left education, leaving me with a recent understanding of learning styles. I am willing to travel to your location, and at a time that suits.

Training Experience:

My professional IT training started before university, in the development of websites for local business'; this was my first introduction to programming, via HTML. Upon starting university, the basics of MATLAB were introduced, quickly followed by Python, and then C++ while undertaking a high performance computing class. While these classes taught the basics of these languages, my experience grew vastly when using these in design environments and my master's thesis. Here, the code function was heavily directed towards Computational Mechanics and Genetic Algorithms.

In my current role, I use these languages, as well as C, to meet a multitude of simulation and code management requirements.

In addition to programming, every engineer must be able to produce part designs, assemblies, and appropriate drawings in CAD software in order to realise a design. While this process may come naturally to some, it is often difficult to find the optimum design, and convey this effectively. This is something that has always been one of my strengths and one that has carried me through the engineering design challenges I have faced so far.

Training Approach:

Across both CAD design and programming challenges, simplicity is often the best approach. A simple design or structure, that is easy to understand, is often the most powerful and effective solution to an engineering problem. This has taught me to approach challenges in a methodical manner, breaking down the problem into small parts and to consider the long term effects of each decision. In doing so, you'll save yourself the time of having to go back and redo work that was initially rushed in to.

CAD and coding are two subject areas that often don't have a right or wrong answer, and there will be many correct approaches to one problem. The skill comes in being able to effectively implement your solution in a clean and neat manner.
