Personal Description:
I have extensive experience teaching Python and Machine Learning at various levels. I can help you excel in these subjects. I am a friendly, reliable and approachable person. Unlike some tutors, I do not tutor on an industrial scale but take at most a handful of students, so please make sure to contact me early to avoid disappointment.
I have a PhD in Theoretical Physics from the University of Cambridge. Previously I graduated with First Class Honours at the top of my year with a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Physics from the University of Warwick. I now work in London applying machine learning and tutor in my spare time.
I also have a particular interest and expertise in Machine Learning and am available to tutor in this area, including casual learners.
Training Experience:
I work in applying machine learning in industry and spend a vast amount of my time writing Python. I am a Python expert and greatly enjoy teaching the subject. I will help you to enjoy it too, from the basics to the most advanced details.
Training Approach:
I like to adopt a two-step approach to teaching, tailored to each individual student.
First, I aim to identify concepts that are poorly understood or otherwise pose particular difficulty, and work to clarify these concepts by explaining them and practising them with the student.
Secondly, once the key concepts are understood, I help the student gain proper working familiarity with them in a unified way by working through exercises with them, assisting and encouraging when necessary. This allows the student to build the confidence to tackle exam-type questions on their own (if applicable), and excel in their subject.
I believe that effective learning is based on communication and encouragement, and not understanding something should never be a source of embarrassment. I always urge students to say whenever they don't understand, and work with them, providing encouragement and reassurance, until they do. This allows students to build the ability and confidence they need to excel in their subject.
In the words of the physicist Richard Feynman, "What one fool can understand, another can." I strongly believe this and strive to convince my students of it also.
