Personal Description::

My name is Anastasia and I am a professional dance artist/choreographer and qualified (UK QTS) dance teacher based in London, UK. I have received my initial dance training from Betty Vytinarou Dance School in Greece and later continued my dance studies at Kensington and Chelsea and Lewisham College in London. I have graduated from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance receiving a Postgraduate Diploma in Dance gaining a qualification as dance practitioner (trained in Contemporary, Ballet, Choreography, Contemporary Jazz, Improvisation, Performance and Dance Repertoire).
I am also a co-founder of Inmotus Dance (www.inmotus.uk) that delivers and facilitates dance classes to people of all ages.

Being also a qualified Science teacher (Bsc in Biology with QTS) I often fuse science themes within my choreographic/improvisation based dance classes.

I am qualified to teach dance classes to people of all ages and abiliities. In more detail I can teach contemporary and contemporary jazz dance classes to children, teenagers and adults of all ages. I also teach choreographic/improvisation dance sessions that are creative, fun and inspirational.

I currently combine my interest in community dance as a passionate teacher with other professional activities as a performer and choreographer in other contexts including live arts and performance installations.

The past 3 years I have been working as a school teacher leading and facilitating movement/dance based classes inspired by science modules. My choreographic dance lessons may infuse creativity in science content. Through the thematic lessons the students may utilize their knowledge of basic science concepts to create movement patterns that simulate the movement from scientific ideas and imagery.

Dance Instruction/Teaching Experience::

I have dance teaching experience to pupils of ages 4-18.
I have taught dance to pupils in primary school level and up to A level in secondary schools.
I have also taught dance to adults of ages 25 and over.
Experience in teaching dance to elderly.

Teaching Approach::

Contemporary-Creative Classes for Children and Teenagers:

These classes are based on exercises that offer a chance for creative movement maintaining soft yet rigorous ways of working with the body. Classes are designed to suit the various needs of children and teenagers according to the individual needs of the group, and the desired outcome of each session. Classes are often thematically based in order to generate fun activities thus allowing creative capacities of children to arise while improving in dance technique.

Contemporary and Improvisation Classes for Adults:
Contemporary released based classes with improvisation elements that have emphasis on the somatic approach and body mind centring. Classes are focused on the floor work, body alignment and connection when executing centre and travelling sequences and spatial awareness in order to generate refined qualities of movement. These classes enable the participants to develop technical aspects of dance while enjoying the process of dancing and moving intuitively in a holistic (body-mind) environment.

Contemporary Jazz
&
Choreography / Creative based Workshops:
These classes offer the opportunity to engage in creative dialogue with our bodies through movement. The elements of the workshops are based on tools I am using when creating work. These include use of voice, object, text, video, experiential anatomy of bodies in space, use of improvisation tasks-exercises that allowing personal and interpersonal spatial relationships to occur when moving. These creative workshops find a great application in a supportive environment that enables participants own voice and movement imagination to develop.
