Personal Description:

I am a professional vocalist, vocal coach and songwriter offering limited one-to-one**Removed By Admin** tuition addressing the use of the speaking voice, communication skills and presentation skills. I have been training for over 20 years and working as a voice coach for 8 years. I have a 1st class honours degree in Music Performance (specialising in voice) from the world-renowned Dartington College of Arts. While the wealth of my experience is in music and performance, all of these skills are transferable to the speaking voice and general communication/presentation skills. I have trained actors, business people, radio and tv presenters, school teachers and many more from all walks of life. Sessions are sometimes geared towards a particular event such as a job interview, presentation, court appearance etc… and sometimes more general i.e. helping someone to shift an accent, talk more clearly, or improve confidence.

Training Specialisms:

Main areas of focus:

Breathing - developing a sound foundation of quality breath is imperative to speaking freely with control and gravitas. It is also an amazing tool for calming the whole system, thus reducing nerves, anxiety and stress.
Support - accessing postural and diaphragmatic support to strengthen and protect the voice.
Resonance - Using the resonant cavities of the face to essentially amplify and shape the voice

* I have taken an Advanced Teacher Training course with Dane Chalfin, director of the British Voice Association. This course covered the most up-to-date vocal theory and research currently available.

Training Methods:

Each session is tailored 100% to the individual client. Generally we would usually start by warming up the voice/body, working on breathing, and then using some text to work on the voice and identify any issues. This text could be picked at random from a book, or be provided by the client for a specific interview or presentation scenario. Role play is often used and some improvisation techniques can be useful to increase confidence and communication skills.

In the case of group sessions I would identify the main aims and work towards that. This could be anything really such as team-building, conflict resolution, stress management, communication/presentation skills. Group sessions are also totally bespoke, and the programme would depend largely on the amount of time available and number of participants. Please enquire for more info.
