This is how 2 referees rated Helen:
I am a Trainer within the Commercial sector and also a professional, fully qualified, experienced Lecturer of English Language, Literature, Study Skills and Communications… Highly experienced with 20+ years of teaching and tutoring within the Further & Higher Education sector and also in relation to training and development in the Commercial sector.
Effective communication skills -both written and spoken (oral & aural), are essential in our society today. Technology advancements have meant we are now able to communicate at a faster pace but this has come at a cost. People are for example, texting, e-mailing and using the language of these mediums. However, they are then using the same informality in all their communications and as a consequence loosing some good and effective language skills. My specialism is the improvement and awareness of these communication skills -both written and spoken (aural & oral). Students will be given/re-introduced to the skills that include: being able to identify audience/clients needs, setting clear objectives, avoiding ambiguities, writing more objectively, and using the appropriate register of language.
I am able to design and deliver a bespoke training day, but also work with individuals, (in my home) with specific requirements.
The refrain ' I know what I want to say but don't know how to write it.', is one I have heard numerous times. I definitely can help.

Feedback Rating: 5/5
'Comments: Helen delivered an excellent overview of Professional English and Communication Skills to 16 of our employees. Helen used a good mixture of presentation, group discussion and practical exercise. Feedback from the group was very positive with one participant saying "Helen is a very interesting teacher, and you can tell she has a huge amount of experience in the subject matter. I wish I had a teacher like her!".
I would happily recommend Helen. Thanks.'
From Lisa (Feedback 5/5):
'I have seen a marked improvement in the work generated by one of Helen's students. English was not the students first language and Helen has helped her with writing of business documents and identifying where errors may have occured and thinking through the solution before I have needed to point them out. This has greatly increased the students confidence and quality of work.'
From Sabin (Feedback 5/5):
'I had 2 sessions with Helen to prepare me for an important work presentation. Helen was very engaging, and was able to provide me with the tools and confidence to enable me to deliver my presentation effectively. It was very worthwhile and Helen' s practical tips will be at the forefront of my thoughts in my work. Thank you Helen.'
Students will be given the skills to identify and meet their audiences needs. Training methods can include: formal presentations, group activities, analysing samples (homegrown) of common errors and looking at ways to improve upon them, exercises etc…

She is strict with the students for their work which is really needed for secondary school students
Unfortunately, Helen won't be continuing with weekly lessons in September so I may need to look for another tutor for next academic year in the lead up to the summer exams.
Her vast array of knowledge allows the student to learn from a source that is not solely confined by a syllabus but one where the student can learn from different areas of life. This makes the lesson very engaging and interesting.
Helen is able to demonstrate the power of language through other subject area's and as a result, I have learnt much more than just English.
If Helen was my high school teacher, I may have pursued English further.
I met Helen who infused a new way of thinking in me. She redefined my boundaries and created a tailor-made course which was purely focussed on my immediate communication challenges.
Helen believes in impromptu two ways feedback which ensures that students and tutor do not digress from their defined and agreed end objective. My current goal is fully met, but the long-term objective is yet to be addressed. The same I will achieve by taking additional lessons on a need basis as per my future client's interactions and the upcoming communication needs.
I wish Helen all the best for her future and hope to continue my learning journey with her.
She allows you to develop an understanding of your chosen subject and is there to improve your academic ability. She is clearly experienced in designing specific methods of instruction suiting all age groups.
I am a mature undergraduate that needs specific help in mastering the academic essay as well as improving my understanding of English and particularly the discipline of critical analysis within English literature.
I have had two tutorials to date and I have already improved my understanding of today's 'Englishes' (Kachru et al. ) and her 'designed to improve' tutorials are - simply put - a joy to anyone wishing to improve their language, reading and grammar skills and I highly recommend her. I am certain that with here guidance my grades can only improve.
Very useful observations and thankful that we got through so much work.
We are looking forward to you joining us for one of our presentations :-).
And I am hoping I can transfer this knowledge into my GCSE 's.
I would not hesitate in recommending Helen to anyone for their tutoring in English. Thank you Helen for your help and support. Its greatly appreciated.

Helen is a professional lady who is generous with her time. We are very pleased with her.
My son whom has taken lessons for GCSE prep has in just a few weeks grasped an extreme amount of helpful information from which im sure will have a forward impact in his results.
Helen has her best interests for her students and puts in 100% to exert them to reach their maximum potential as long as the student allows her to.
She has also strong business background what is very helpfull for business people like me.
100% recommend !! …
A few weeks have gone by, and thanks to Helen's enthusiasm and engaging manner, I have noticed him gaining in confidence and motivation.
My son has now been given the framework that will hopefully lead to a positive result when he sits his GCSE's this summer.
I would not hesitate to recommend Helen.
If you have a child that needs a tutor in English, I would recommend Helen without a shadow of doubt!
I highly recommend Helen as a tutor.
Hopefully this will result in him progressing in his writing ability soon.
I would happily recommend Helen. Thanks.
I am grateful for her determination and commitment in helping me with my English.
I had a lot of fun studying with her. She offers intuitive examples and explanations using her own unique methods and tricks. She always explained things clearly and in detail by giving me examples that I could easily understand.
She clearly has a passion for the subject. She is very patient, and professional.
Before she started working with my son to improve his skills in English she had a long conversation with him to find out what are his needs and what to concentrate on.
My son values and enjoys very much lessons with Helen which I am very pleased about.
I have no hesitation to highly reccoment Helen as a tutor of English.
