Personal Description:

I have a Master's degree in Physics from Oxford University, a PhD in quantum computers and quite a lot of tutoring experience. I initially became interested in tutoring because I have always enjoyed helping people and after having won a couple of awards for giving talks, it seemed I was good at explaining things. With increasing experience, I have found better and better ways to enable my students to really improve.

I have won prizes both in my academic work and my spare time. During my PhD, I won a prestigious Bright Ideas grant whereby my research group were awarded just under a quarter of a million pounds to further our work. My contributions to a crowdsourcing website for ideas on technology have lead not only to prize money but also to a pitch to Samsung.

Training Specialisms:

I have been tutoring since March 2014. Specialising in maths, physics and entrance/aptitude tests, I have tutored a wide variety of students from GCSEs and A-levels to undergraduates and adult-learners. With regards to the entrance and aptitude tests, I have helped several people prepare for the MAT and PAT (i.e. the maths and physics entrance tests for Oxford University and Imperial College) and for the QTS numeracy test (i.e. the test that is one of the criteria for people to obtain qualified teacher status). I once helped a person study for a maths test for them to become a trainee pilot for commercial airlines.

I have taught at Saturday schools and summer schools across London. At 'Education Means Success,' I taught GSCE maths to small classes every Saturday. More recently, I gave seventeen year old students a flavour of university-level physics at the 'Debate Chambers' summer school. This included everything from classical mechanics through to relativity and quantum field theory. I have run two courses with 'Step Into My Shoes' that took place at Imperial College and prepared students for the Physics Admission Test and the Maths Admission Test.

Training Methods:

By explaining the necessary concepts thoroughly and developing a good rapport with my students, I deepen their understanding of the subject. I tailor my tutorials to the individual and guide them towards success in their exams.
