Information About Zev - Glasgow teacher
This is how 2 referees rated Zev:
I am a Canadian-British artist and filmmaker with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Concordia University, Montreal (Honours, 1983) and an Masters of Fine Arts from Hunter College, NY in 1985, with over thirty years of professional experience. I've taught all ages at various community centres for twelve years, something I thoroughly enjoy, and have spent thousands of hours in museums and have seen countless gallery exhibitions in New York, London and elsewhere.
I can explain composition, colour, space, perspective and other formal issues clearly, as well as painting techniques and issues of different approaches in contemporary art, helping students strengthen their work and prepare a portfolio.
I also have a solid knowledge of art history, how it developed, and how artists approached their work.
Preville Art Centre, Montreal 1975-1983 Various art classes from 6 years old to adults
Stenberg Centre - 2000-2005 Adult painting and drawing classes, including from a live model.
Tours of museums, 1985 onwards.
I start with composition, how things are placed and arranged on a page or canvas, showing the various approaches that Cezanne, Rembrandt, and others used. Building on that, various approaches to light and dark and colour, and how that creates pictorial space is covered, as is ways to use paint and drawing material is covered. The approaches of artists is used as examples.
This is tailored to the students own level, attitude and needs.
