Personal Description:

An experienced youth theatre director, manager and educator. I am able to work in pressured environments remaining calm and taking a pro-active approach. Highly personable I get the best out of people, whether leading them or working with them.
I have strong interpersonal skills that enabled effective leadership of a busy and thriving performing arts department at a further education college for over 11 years.
I am an innovative and creative thinker and welcome the opportunity to bring these skills to any teaching role undertaken, and hope to enthuse and motivate others to achieve shared aims and goals for their benefit.
The specialist skills that I can offer within Acting and Drama are: Acting Techniques / Directing / Voice / Contemporary Theatre / Classical Theatre / Script Writing / Performing Arts Business / Devising.

Teaching Experience:

I have an excellent record of teaching and raising standards in 14-19 year old learners. In the last OFSTED inspection and subsequent internal inspections I have consistently been rated as a ‘Good’ teacher. Every year we receive positive reports from examining bodies regarding achieving National Standards, and subsequently I was appointed as an External Verifier for Edexcel, where I was required to visit schools and colleges across the country to ensure they are maintaining and meeting the Learning and Skills Council agreed National Standards.
I have taught across a range of programmes from further NQF Level 3 courses (A Levels and National Diploma’s) to a full range of Level 2 provision in the performing art subject disciplines (First Diploma’s and Young Apprentices) and Level 4 provision (Foundation Degrees) and a working collaboration on Level 1 programmes.
I have helped many of my former students gain places at some of the top drama schools in the country, including LAMDA, Guidlhall, Guildford School of Acting, RADA, Birmingham School of Acting, LIPA, Italia Conti and East15.

Teaching Approach:

My teaching style is student-centred, with an emphasis on seeking the learning opportunity from a range of diverse and challenging tasks. All questions are valid and we aim to find answers to problems together by working in a cooperative and supportive manner.
