I would love to invite you to learn art with me. I am a Canadian that has landed in London, called here by the architecture and vast art scene. Visual arts has always been my passion, and sharing it with others brings me so much enjoyment. I love to paint in all of its forms: watercolours, acrylic, and oil in both realistic and abstract. I am constantly inspired the world around me and look to bring this inspiration into my pieces. I also love drawing, more particularly realistic drawings using levels of graphite, but also enjoy conté and charcoal, as well as integrating colour in an unexpected and interesting way. I have showcased several series which have won awards, and because of that have had experience being a juror for other exhibitions. I believe that art is therapeutic. It is not about the end product, but about learning to enjoy the process of creating. In doing so, I hope to help everyone find an artistic side of themselves that they may not have seen before.
I have six years teaching experience in both primary and secondary art classrooms and have senior VIsual Arts Specialist qualifications. Four of those years were completed in Canada, where I created an Interior Design year 10 arts course, as well as an Integrated Arts Maths course, designed to help students explore maths through art. Not only did I create all of my secondary art curricula independently, but it is a progressive program where students study from Prehistoric Art History to Modern Art over the course of 4 years, through a variety of mediums. In the last year of study I focus on career goals, and specific portfolio development. This course is tailored to the students taking it, according to their prospective universities.
In London, I have also taught year 4 - 8 in the private and public sector, which has given me a unique range of teaching experience.
My approach to teaching art is fundamental based on helping my tutees enjoy creating, regardless of skill. Through this, their natural talent will be perfected using the Elements and Principles of Art and specific tasks I explore with them. In saying this, my art curricula progresses from beginner to advanced, through a variety of mediums, topics, and inspirations, and is created using the personal interests of the tutee. All people can enjoy art and use it in ways that will positively impact their lives.
I am an easy-going young teacher, looking to foster a love of arts in my tutees.
I am dedicated to private tuition primarily, this includes creating the best programs for each of my tutees based on their individualised needs and interests.
I am a professional artist, having completed many commissioned pieces and independently displayed series.
I have studied drawing and painting at the university level, and taught it both at the primary and secondary level of education, allowing me to have the skill required to demonstrate particular art techniques, while understanding how to diagnose the best ways of learning for my tutees.
I have been private tutoring art for many years and am eager to work with any age, or skill level of tutee.
I am a trustworthy, passionate, kind and caring individual, looking to build a relationship with my tutees where they feel comfortable working with me.
I aim to create an environment where my tutee feels the most creative. If this involves listening to music, or working in the quiet of the outdoors… all ideas are welcomed.
