Information About Tarun - Nottingham teacher - (1 review)
I am first year Maths student at the University of Nottingham. I am an avid chess playing having been a four-time British junior chess champion in the U-11, U-12, U-14 and U-16 age categories.
I enjoy tutoring as I feel like I am making a tangible difference - knowing my student has succeeded because of the value I have input gives me great satisfaction.
I have tutored chess on a one to one basis to individuals ranging from the age of 9 to 53!
I have tutored Maths and Reading skills to children aged 10-11 at a Saturday school.
I aim to inspire my students so that they develop a genuine interest in the subject - if a student enjoys a subject then success can be achieved very easily.
Before I start teaching a student, I would like to identify their weakest areas. I will devise a personalised plan wherein these areas are addressed first.
At the start of the lesson, I will summarise the main points of what I am going to teach. I will then systemically delve into each subtopic. For chess practice makes perfect, so I will make the lessons as interactive/two sided as possible. I will challenge my students to answer questions!
I will set homework at the end of each lesson to monitor progress. Depending on how the student does in the homework, I will either move onto the next area or spend some more time clarifying what I have taught in the previous lesson.
