Personal Description:

I have been passionate about Art since a young age. It was my favorite subject at school and I would always find ways to amuse myself by making and being creative in someway. After studying illustration at Universtity and gaining experience of working with young people I decided to go into teaching. I found much pleasure in getting to be part of other peoples creative journey and have never looked back since. It never gets boring as each and every person has their own interpretations and creative ideas and expressions. I find that having the opportunity to be part of helping other people pursue their creative passion keeps me involved in Art and constantly learning and developing myself.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for just over 10 years. I began teaching at college level and soon went into secondary education. I have always taught across the age range. 11-18. I have delivered GCSE and A Level year on year and have experience in Art textiles, 3d art and design, Fine Art and Art and design.
After 5 years I became head of department where my department has consistently achieved outstanding results for GCSE and A Level. This has seen us above the national average and achieving 100% A-C
I have delivered courses or AQA and OCR so am well equipped to tutor against exam bodies or any modules working towards certain assessment objectives.

Teaching Approach:

My approach to teaching is individual and independent. The advice given would be as it is in the classroom, one to one. It would also be more of a facilitation rather that telling anyone what to do as each student should be able to express themselves how they wish even when working to assessment objectives. Any Art project is a personal creative journey so independent thinking and learning should be encouraged from the outset. Sometimes students can struggle with this at first but they will get better at it and ultimately become more confident and better artsits because of it and achieve better results.
