Information About Rebecca (Becky - Edinburgh teacher
I'm Becky, I am a recent Literature Graduate with a first from Edinburgh Uni. At university I took a creative writing module in 4th year, and have since been involved in a Writer's Group and different poetry events around Edinburgh. I have always enjoyed writing, and reading other people's work.
In 2nd year of university, I co-ran the Creative Society, which ran weekly crafts and writing workshops. Each workshop would work on a particular theme (e.g. we did three weeks on fairy-tales, seven on sins… ) or on what different people wanted to focus on, e.g. use of metaphors, or rhythm, or the sonnet.
As a Literature graduate, I have a pretty solid grounding in the different forms, styles and techniques used in creative writing, which is probably handy for tutoring, too.
This will be my first experience tutoring in Creative Writing but, as mentioned above, I have been involved in different groups and workshops, so I am good at giving feedback, asking questions that will make you think about your work, or setting up different themes or whatever it is you want to work on.
I am pretty flexible, as I feel the main thing is to identify your aims and goals before beginning to tutor, and then working with those to develop a strategy. E.g, if it's the basics of structure and form you needed to learn, we could work through the different structures that there are (sonnets, etc), whereas if it's themes or specific details within written work you want to look at, we could focus on looking at what you already have.
It's very much up to you!
