Personal Description:
I am Anglo-American and grew up in the bustling cities of Hong Kong and London. I am both a trained and self taught artist. I studied Art and Design at London College of Fashion for my foundation year before going to the University of the West of England, where I graduated with a 2:1 BA(Hons) in Fashion and Textile design. I have a PGCE in Design and Technology, also from UWE, and a Master's Degree in Critical Creative Practice from Solent University. Inspired by my fashion internship at Anna Sui in New York, I set up Marina Designs in 2010 as a textile print company which has turned into producing art and textiles. I enjoy teaching all abilities from beginners to advanced with fine-art techniques I've learnt over the years.
Teaching Experience:
I am a fully qualified teacher having completed my PGCE and NQT, and have been teaching at secondary schools since 2012. I've worked as a sessional tutor at the Isle of Wight Council, teaching Art and Textiles to adults of all abilities. Currently I am working as a Textile teacher at the Island Free School on the Isle of Wight. Outside of this I have also taught painting lessons from my own studio on the Isle of Wight.
Teaching Approach:
My approach to teaching is to be inclusive and encourage all abilities. I believe art should be enjoyable and fun that everyone can do. I enjoy seeing my learners grow with confidence and producing work they didn't think they could do.
