Information About Lucy - St. Albans teacher
This is how 3 referees rated Lucy:
Acting / Drama
I am a drama school-trained professional actor who has worked in the industry for over 5 years, having performed in a range of London-based and touring theatre productions - many of the productions being award nominated.
I have experience in teaching a wide range of contemporary work as well as classical, including Shakespeare. I often find teaching the latter to be the most rewarding as, more often than not, classical text can be daunting, and seem impossible if not taught correctly. My goal is to help my students not only understand classical text, but for them to also feel comfortable and confident in its comprehension and performance.
Acting and the study of drama is a huge passion of mine and I want my students to enjoy it as much as I do.
I teach 1-2-1 acting coaching for LAMDA Examinations, all levels, as well as tutor students studying Drama for KS3, GCSE and A-Level, BTEC for Performing Arts and English for KS3 and GCSE. I also provide coaching for those applying to Drama Schools and require assistance with their audition pieces and technique.
I have previous experience of teaching acting to KS1-KS3 pupils at a well known independent school, and have directed a range of classical, contemporary and devised stage productions over the past 8 years.
In addition to this I have created and taught confidence building courses through the medium of acting techniques to a number of UK based companies including The Wedding Shop, Remodus and Bell Boi.
Communication is vital when it comes to teaching. It allows for a better experience for both student and tutor; it encourages the student to become more engaged, and the tutor can get a better understanding of how that individual best learns and locate the areas within which they are struggling.
When approaching LAMDA Examinations there is a syllabus which needs to be adhered to in order to obtain the best qualifications, just as there is in GCSE and A-Level Drama. However, there is also a freedom when choosing which pieces to perform. I like to assess the student and provide them with a number of options which will best suit their abilities, whilst also taking in to account any particular requests they might have. This also applies with my approach to Drama School audition practice. Finding the right pieces can be hard, and the whole process can be very daunting. My goal, apart from giving you the best chance of being offered a placement, is to make the whole process as stress-free and enjoyable as possible.
I also offer online tutoring if this option is preferred.
