Acting / Drama
Graduated with a BA(HONS) in Acting from the prestigious Royal Conervatoire of Scotland in 2012. Worked extensively for two years as an Actor with companies including Citizens Theatre, BBC Radio, Jermyn Street Theatre and the National Theatre of Scotland. Appeared as Jeanie Hume the award winning Television series OUTLANDER. I now work as a freelance theatre producer and casting director. I also run a theatre company (**E-mail Address Removed**) developing new plays and supporting emerging actors, writers and directors. My company is supported by Pleasance Theatre, London and English Touring Theatre. I have produced 4 debut plays in London and in Romania and 14 new writing theatre events including a four day new writing festival at Pleasance London. I have worked with over 400 artists.
During my studies, I worked as a workshop facilitator for young children aged between 8 and 16 at Royal Conservatoire of Scotland's Drama Works programme. I assisted at the Largs Youth Theatre for one year in 2011/12. In 2011-2012 I was project developer and deliverer for Angus Council's Actue Project: Getting it Right for Every Child. This project toured schools around the Angus council area in Scotland. I work as an audition coach for professional, amateur and young actors.
I have a flexible yet varied apprach. I work with what each student needs and within their capabilities, whilst encouroging my students to achieve their full potential. My aim is for the students to gain confidence in their own ablities to learn and develop and I will always nurture this through positive yet constructive feedback and support.
I like to work with actors, both amateur and professional, or individuals interested in exploring acting for other means such as confidence or just for fun.
I offer monologue and audition coaching, general acting technique, character exploration and textual analysis on plays and scenes. My work always comes with an emphasis on self reflection as this is a vital tool in developing within acting.
I like to work with text to unlock tools for the student to take on into their acting or drama work outside our sessions. I like to encorouge play and imagination but always within a safe environment. I will work to build confidence slowly and throw myself in to the exercises where needed, aiding an inhibition free environemnt in which to play. I will work both theoretically and practically, looking at textual analysis as well as practical acting. I am happy to concentrate more fully on either or both. I use a variety of exercises to explore character, objectives and actions and truth. I will draw from the work of Stanislavski, Mike Alfreds, Utah Hagen, David Mammett and Meisner. I will look to apply this thoery to the practical. I am very happy to work with text provided by the students but I will also bring a range of texts to the sessions for us to play with.
