Acting / Drama
I am a qualified English and Drama teacher who has had to retire due to illness and disability. During my teaching career I have formed and run successful drama, philosophy, public speaking and debating societies, therefore I am very experienced at teaching these skills to both young people and adults alike. I believe these skills are extremely important for young people in order to gain confidence and invaluable experience for later life. I have also taught creative writing up to GCSE level during my teaching career and have found this to be my favourite area of English to teach.
I am also experienced at teaching students with special educational needs, including Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, Cerebal Palsy, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalcula, Deafness and visibility impairment, SPLD and many others.
I am very flexible and am available during the day as well as in the evening. I would prefer to teach from my home in St. Paul's in Cheltenham as I have mobility difficulties which prevent me from travelling very far however alternative arrangements are negotiable.
I have been a qualified teacher for 3 years and have 4 years experience including my training year. I have worked in 3 schools in the Gloucestershire area, all of which would be happy to provide me with a reference. Additionally I worked in schools and with students as an Ambassador and Mentor during my degree and tutored English during my A' levels
My approach to tutoring is informal yet intensive. I work with my students in order for them to get the best out of themselves, probing what they already know and questioning them to bring it out.

I am very happy with Lisa.
I feel that you understand William's difficulties, especially when he was unable to attend one evening. I think that all your hard work is helping him with his confidence and I hope that he will, in turn, will pull his weight. He definitely seems happier with his English work after he has had the extra help.
Thank you Lisa.
