Information About Leonidas - Swansea teacher
This is how 2 referees rated Leonidas:
My name is Leonidas and I started playing chess at the age of 6 at Egaleo Chess Club (Greece). Since then I trained with many recognised trainers (including GM Nikolaidis Ioannis, IM Gesos Pavlos and IM Gavrilakis Nikolaos among other).
Also, I have a FIDE rating 2113 and almost every year I take part in the Greek National Team Championship.
Along with my passion for chess I completed my Bachelor and Master studies in Chemical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens.
On top of my personal passion for chess I have, for the past 4 years, been helping others to develop their skillset. My experience in teaching covers both adults as well as children.
In the last four years I worked in 2 private schools, in more than 10 different public schools and in 2 chess clubs. In addition, I did some voluntary work in public schools.
I vary my style of teaching on a case-by-case basis. We will kick off with an introductory game to establish the student’s current level of ability, eventual goals, and a plan on how to reach that point.
I am extremely passionate about the game itself but understand (from my own learning experience) it is not simple to develop as a skill, so at no point will I apply any more pressure than I feel a student can, or wishes to, handle. I strongly appreciate feedback and if at any point a student feels I am applying too much (or too little) pressure please let me know and we can adjust the approach.
I espeacially use certified chess books that will gradually guarantee the improvement of the student.
