Acting / Drama
I began my own education in drama at The Italia Conti Theatre School before training for a further three years as an actor at 'LAMDA'. Later, I moved to New Zealand, working there for several years before returning to Billericay. Here, I have been involved in educating the next generation of actors and theatre practitioners. I am an examiner for LAMDA and have been Head of Drama in several schools, nurturing young talent to progress to a range of careers, from acting to directing, designers to stage technicians and even lawyers.
I hold a first class Honours degree in Drama and Theatre (University of Surrey), a Masters degree in 'Shakespeare and Contemporary Performance' (University of London) a Diploma in Professional Theatre from LAMDA, QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and the LAMDA teaching diploma. I have taught in conservatoires and mainstream education, having been Head of Drama in four leading schools. I have a track record of producing high outcomes for my students in public examinations. As well as teaching, I have been an examiner for several examination boards and have an in-depth working knowledge of Drama and Theatre at GCSE, A level and Degree level study. I am an examiner for LAMDA and have prepared hundreds of my own students for success in a range of LAMDA examinations.
I can provide tailored tuition for a range of circumstances from preparing for auditions, to coaching for examinations or simply to enhance confidence or develop personal performance or presentation skills. I can take a highly practical approach, working closely with you on your vocal production and/or movement techniques for example, or alternatively, I can provide tuition that takes a more academic focus; i.e. the study of significant practitioners or influential directors or performance styles. Tuition can be provided for one-off sessions to address a particular need, or ongoing tuition that focusses on a specific topic, such as Shakespeare or contemporary texts. I can also provide informed advice on how to go about taking the next steps in your development as an arts practitioner or performer. Finally, I encourage all of my students to engage with the rich diversity of theatre practices that are within reach given our close proximity to London.
