Hi I'm Justine, nice to meet you!
I have a first class degree in Animation and Illustration and have been drawing all my life. I specialise in developing technical skills including sketching, painting and developing an eye for strong composition and correct tone in artwork. After a few months learning with me students always express their surprise at how much they have learned and improved.
A bit about me:
In my spare time I enjoy creative activities like drawing, book binding and baking. I enjoy reading a lot, science fiction and classics as well as modern books. I also study Japanese and lived there for ten months in 2016. My profile picture is me in Japan!
*Available for digital drawing/ animation lessons*
I've run classes and workshops in painting and drawing to groups of both adults and children, as well as individuals. I've taught those who want to create realistic pieces, looking into traditional artists, as well as run workshops for concept art, animation and anime. I specialise in drawing and painting people, but am confident teaching the rudiments of all drawing areas including perspective, composition, still life etc.
I have also used photoshop for drawing and can teach beginners plenty of shortcuts and painting methods to get started with digital painting. I studied 2D animation and have created work both traditionally and digitally. I can introduce you to most art programs and give advice on many different subjects - just ask!
I tailor all my teaching to the student. But my general method is the same.
In the initial lesson I will want to learn about you - why are you learning, what are your strengths and weaknesses? What do you want to get out of the tutoring. I will also show you what I can offer you.
I build skills and knowledge in small, quick steps, breaking down all the learning and methods clearly. I always include enjoyment as an important aspect in my lessons ensuring a student's interests, or particular styles of learning are catered for.
With art I know sometimes it is about pleasure - but a great pleasure does come from seeing improvement. My lessons feel relaxed and fun, however I always ensure you're learning something and seeing clear progress, too.
