Acting / Drama
I have now worked for over 14 years as a Freelance Acting Coach and Theatre Director, having recently relocated from West London to St Leonards on Sea.
I originally studied English and Drama at university before training to be an Actor and then becoming a Drama Facilitator and Director.
I have worked extensively with many children, young people and adults, using drama to help them with self-expression, confidence, self-belief and creativity, as well as supporting professional actors to enhance their skills and enable them to become more present and courageous. I can also coach individuals who wish to become more confident in their speaking voice for use with presentations and general confidence.
For actors wishing to develop their craft, I specialise in The Meisner Technique which focuses on being truthful and allowing impulses to emerge naturally.
I have Enhanced Full Disclosure CRB / DBS.
As a Drama Teacher, I have worked for: Old Vic New Voices, Shakespeare Schools Festival, The Theatre Workshop, Wizard Theatre, Stagecoach, Questors Youth Theatre, London College of Music, Kingston College, Green Ink Theatre, Young Pleasance, Forbes Drama, Arts Depot and I have had countless Private Students.
I have run many different kinds of drama / acting classes for varied groups in youth theatres, schools, universities and privately. These have ranged from skills-based performance workshops to applied theatre workshops with the aim of using drama techniques to enhance confidence and expression overall.
I can also prepare and enter students for LAMDA exams in Acting / Verse & Prose / Speaking in Public / Reading for Performance. The majority of my students have achieved Distinctions in LAMDA exams.
As a Director, I have had work produced or performed at: Leicester Square Theatre, Tristan Bates Theatre, Canal Cafe Theatre, Barons Court, Etcetera Theatre, South Hill Park as well as UK Tours and Edinburgh Fringe Festival. I have directed shows for degree level students at Kingston College and University of West London. I also run my own theatre company, Endpaper Theatre.
For adult actors keen to develop their courage, truth and integrity as a performer, I share principles and approaches using The Meisner Technique as my basis. This focuses on releasing impulses and being fully present in the moment, observing and responding fully to your scene partner, to enable the truth to emerge.
My approach is inherently warm and supportive. I recognise that it takes courage to have 1 to 1 lessons with a teacher so always work to put my students at ease. I will tailor my expectations to each student whilst always striving to enable students to fulfil their potential. I focus on tailoring my approach and content to each individual.
