Personal Description:

An experienced and professionally qualified chartered Mechanical Engineer with further qualifications in English and Creative Writing.
I have worked in the Science and Engineering sector for over 20 years and have mentored and successfully tutored and mentored many young apprentices and graduates.
Currently, I run my own business teaching literacy and writing to young people and adults.

I have an Enhanced DBS certificate.

Teaching Experience:

I worked as a personal tutor after graduating with my first degree. This was in Singapore and I taught Science, Maths, and English, up to GCSE level.
As a Professional Engineer, one of my roles was in Science Education. I regularly created, prepared, and delivered training presentations to both internal and external audiences, and have experience in delivering papers at academic conferences.
I currently run my own business, The Upstart Crows, teaching literacy and creative writing to children and adults.

Teaching Approach:

I strongly believe in enabling tutees to find answers on their own. While ro**Contact Detail Removed**arning may have its place, my philosophy as a tutor is that I should help tutees understand their barriers to learning, provide guidance and tools to overcome these and enjoy themselves learning.
I provide a nurturing environment, where questioning is encouraged.
