Information About Colleen - St. Albans teacher
This is how 4 referees rated Colleen:
I am a retired teacher living in St Albans and have been teaching privately since the year 2000 I have a good relationship with my students and many recommend others. I have an MA in the teaching of English and my students get good results, mostly at GCSE and A level. During the past ten years or so I have become interested in creative writing and recently completed an MA course at Herts university.
I started life as a primary teacher, but moved to specialise in teaching ESL to students from overseas in primary and secondary schools. I worked at Herts university giving language support to overseas students. Since retirement I have taught privately, including some teaching of English literature and creative writing at university level and specialise in study skills. Support with essays and dissertations. I have now started to teach creative writing and have considerable experience working in groups and giving advice and feedback to group members. I have submitted work to voluntary magazines, although not to established publishers.
My students tell me they feel comfortable working with me and enjoy the lessons. I give students space to talk and express their ideas and aim to make lessons interesting and when appropriate lively and fun. I aim to encourage students and to give them confidence.
