Personal Description:

Hi,

I am a graduate from the prestigious directing programme at Rose Bruford College. I have many years experience as a theatre director, educator and facilitator and am a freelance practitioner. My area of expertise is acting, directing, textual analysis for stage, theatre arts and drama.

Having trained on the directing programme I have been exposed to professional actor training, director training and been responsible for many productions and lead and developed groups of students within the college. I am very keen to continue working as an acting coach and tutor and support individuals applying for drama schools, auditioning for work and those who wish to do it for a bit of fun. I am very open to whatever your needs or wants might be. Whether you are getting into it as a beginner or want to brush up on skills as a professional.

Teaching Experience:

I have seven years experience as a facilitator and educator. I have worked in a variety of venues, from professional theatres such as the Liverpool Empire Theatre and the Aberdeen Arts Centre to classroom based work in South Africa and workshops in England and Scotland.

Most recently I have been a tutor for the Rose Bruford Young People's Theatre Workshops and have been responsible for structuring and delivering weekly workshops for groups of 12 - 25 students. These sessions focused on voice, movement, acting and stage craft.

I have references available from those I have worked with and have an enhanced CRB Check.

Teaching Approach:

My approach to tutoring in the arts is very flexible. I understand that we all learn in different ways and a tutor should be responsive to that. I pride myself on being friendly and approachable but still able to move forward and cover lots of material within sessions.

My practical work encourages expressive freedom and the safety to make mistakes. I am not afraid to do anything I ask of a student so there is never any sense that you will left feeling silly or awkward. For the more theory based learning I aim to make it approachable and offer it in bitesize chunks rather than it being overwhelming.
