Hello to all prospective clients. It is a pleasure to e-meet you. My name is Abiola and I am a London-based Professional Storyteller and Artists' Career Coach. I have worked as a professional performer for over a decade now, and in a wide variety of genres, from West End musicals (I appeared in both Mamma Mia! and The Book of Mormon), to regional theatre, television, and film. I have also worked as an actor/musician. What is unique is that I have been able to make the difficult transition from Musical Theatre into screen acting. As I have worked in every medium of U.K. stage, I see the main differences and similarities, and can offer that insight to my clients.
I am also a filmmaker and musician and have created my own work in narrative prose, poetry, short film, sketch comedy, music video, and my first feature film (which I started writing this year). I coach professional artists on a 1-2-1 basis helping them decide how best to take themselves to the next levels of their careers. I love the arts and the humanities and believe deeply in the good they can do. I love arthouse cinema, psychology books, fancy coffee, and journalling every day. I make it a strong point to practice all I preach and make time for my creative practice every day.
I have over two years experience as a Professional Artists' Coach. On a 1-2-1 basis, I have worked with actors, actor/writers, writers, creative entrepreneurs, and musicians.
I have also taught young children (5-8) in group format. I have led various workshops at ArtsEd, London (one of the U.K. performing arts institutions), The Actors Centre (London's leading acting venue), and Somerset House.
I have also taken on mentors at varying levels.
I have a very bespoke approach to teaching, as my experience teaching people of varying abilities has taught me how to address each person's needs in a sensitive and considered way. As both an actor and a director, I have a lot of experience in reading between the lines, and I make it a strong point to uncover things about the best way for my students to work from the way that they speak with me.
