Personal Description:

I have taught and exhibited my work internationally. Exhibiting in both London and Tokyo in 2017/18.

I was awarded my MA in textile design from The Royal College of Art in 2016, after obtaining a first-class BA (Hons) in printed textiles at Edinburgh College of Art. I am a material designer and design researcher based in London. My interdisciplinary practice focuses on the intersection of contemporary design, materials, textiles and technology. My main interest is in the development of new materials using high-technology alongside traditional craftsmanship; the application of colour, pattern and texture, in combination with strong attention to detail and quality. My core methodology is the implementation of design research, and development through problem-solving, within the area of social design and sustainability with the aim of improving human well-being and livelihood.

Teaching Experience:

I completed my Award in Mentoring Level 1 and 2 [Diploma] and my Award in Community Arts in July 2019 (NCFE) Northern Council for Further Education.

My teaching experience has involved teaching/tutoring design within academia including the workshop setting, group tutorials and one-to-one at The Kyoto Institute of Technology, Japan and The Royal College of Art, London. Please refer to my on file academic references for further information and confirmation of my high level of professional capacity; reliability, trustworthiness and professionalism from the head of the textiles department at Edinburgh College of Art part of Edinburgh University and the head of the textiles department at The Royal College of Art, London. A professional reference and letter of high recommendation from The Kyoto Institute of Technology, Japan is available on request, since I am only able to add two references to my profile, who are based in the UK.

I have worked with individual students one-on-one and can organize group activities for students who are studying the same material. I offer compassionate, motivating assistance to students. I value professionalism and strive to maintain my high rating and standard of reliability; managing my commitments, time and communication well to build a strong tutor/student relationship that produces results. I am competent, efficient and highly skilled in the field of textile design. Whatever your ability level, I can guide you through the textile design process, in bite-sized chunks, at your own pace, working towards portfolio preparation, further study, or entry into the industry.

Teaching Approach:

I believe that preparation is key and start the tutor/student relationship by finding out as much as I can about the student's needs, issues, and strengths including what they hope to achieve, so we can work out exactly what we need to cover. I aim to quickly put the new student at ease, so the experience is fun, interesting and comfortable. I listen carefully to the aspirations and expectations of the student. I am patient and sensitive to the individual needs of each student with an innovative and interesting tutoring approach. Please contact me for more information on block booking discounts. I have a (CBR) criminal background check from the Disclosure and Barring Service issued on 06 March 2018.

Cancellation Policy:
Students can cancel or rearrange 24 hours before the lesson start time for free but will be charged 50% of the lesson fee after that point until the time at which the lesson is due to start.
Any lessons cancelled after this time will be charged at the full price.
