Personal Description:

Hey there!
My name is Gur **Removed By Admin** i'm a London based theatre/performance maker.

originally from Tel-Aviv, Israel where I worked in commercial, local theatre and film. I have completed an MA in Performance with distinction at Goldsmiths University of London (2016).

My work blurs the boundaries between theatre, performance art and cabaret through the use of meta-theatrical elements such as role-playing, self-irony and the intertwining of narratives. The multiple plots weave together historical icons and current affairs, giving modern issues a fresh new look.

My works have been presented in venues such as: Nunnery Gallery,
Greenside at 2016 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Belgrade Theatre in Coventry, Camden People's Theatre, Chisenhale Dance Space and ToyNbee studios.

I have performed at the Tate Modern and The Yard Theatre.

In 2016, I directed and devised the piece Don't F**k with my Unicorn! At Camden's People theatre, Tim Bano for The Stage
wrote the following:

What's the difference between someone injecting their arse with silicone and a performance by Marina Abramovitz?
Gur ' Don't F**k with my Unicorn! is a bewildering celebration of those quirks - like a unicorn's horn- that makes us unique, and a skewering contemporary culture at every level."(2016)

Teaching Experience:

Back in Israel I've been teaching theatre for two years religious children from a struggling area,2007-2009.
I have been voluntarily teaching theatre to children from New Cross area , as part of the CEN8 organisation, 2014-2015.
Hebrew and Cultural studies at WLS (West London Synagogue), 2017-.
Hebrew at Cactus Worldwide, 2017-.
Hebrew tutoring.

Teaching Approach:

My method is mainly influenced by the work of Sanford Meisner. His believe in the “reality of doing”, the importance of the objective in each sequence, and what is task to be accomplished.
This add up to his statement that the performer “lives truthfully under given imaginary circumstances”, hence, I highlight the tension between the performance actions and the performer mode on stage.
Together with the performer I encourage building an inner-monologue combined of images and sub-texts, to enrich and create an extra layer to the performance. This technique helps to build a frame work that allow us to develop an organic flow.
I aspire to create an enthusiastic and creative environment where there are no mistakes, and the performer is motivated to imagine and cultivate a unique perspective.
