Personal Description:

Hi, I'm Colin, an experienced, approachable and engaging drama tutor, looking to help students grow in confidence and fulfil their potential. After studying Drama and English at university, I moved into the world of education after teaching theatre studies and script writing for various theatre companies around the UK. I became a fully qualified teacher in 2011, soon becoming the school's drama and music lead during my first full time teaching position.
Alongside teaching, I have performed as a stand-up comedian for many years, a skill which I have found very useful in making tutoring sessions fun and energetic. It also allows me to think on my feet and quickly adapt and mould the sessions to any student, to maximise the time they have with me.

Teaching Experience:

During the past 7 years, I have taught Drama at secondary level (key stages 2, 3 and 4) as well as one-to-one acting and public speaking lessons to Collage and A level students. I am also a qualified and highly experienced LAMDA tutor (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts). These sessions not only help individuals hone and develop their acting and public speaking skills, but also provide and fun and nurturing way for them to grow in confidence as a human, find their voice and learn life skills that they can utilise in the real world.

Teaching Approach:

Many students have said that my teaching style is extremely engaging, as I aim to make sessions memorable by creating a relaxed and welcoming learning environment. I encourage students to ask as many questions as they need to, providing a strong and non-judgemental sounding board for them to test out their ideas, take risks and problem solve without the fear of condescension or ridicule.

I have a strong knowledge of both the Drama and English curriculum up to, and including, GCSE and A level.
