Personal Description:

I'm an artist and art teacher from County Down. I see myself as an artist first, which informs my tuition - which is hands on and about making great work!

Since graduating from Art College I have exhibited my ceramic sculpture work in the Royal Ulster Academy show and several group exhibitions in local galleries. Having worked in furniture design and restoration, museum art workshops, and primary and secondary schools, I also have a much wider range of experience as a teacher and practitioner.

Teaching Experience:

I am a fully qualified and practicing Art & Design teacher, registered with GTCNI (the General Teacher's Council of Northern Ireland). I currently teach Art & Design part time in a seondary school. I also ran an Afterschool club for a primary school for two years and worked in the Ulster Museum delivering ceramics workshops for fold residents.

Teaching Approach:

My approach is always to find out what your needs and interests are and to start from there. If you are feeling stuck for inspiration and direction, we will spend some time loosening up your approach to drawing and finding interesting ways to record and develop sketchbook work.

Although my specialism is in ceramics and sculptural work, I have always been iinterested in working with various media and have incorporated print, glass and mixed-media into my work too. I'm always interested in new twchniques and processes, and if there is something different you'd like help with, I'm only too willing to assist!
