Personal Description:

I started out as a writer publishing my own short fiction, contributing stories to literary journals and creating books for both the North American/Canadian and UK markets. I now have an MA in creative & life writing, and postgraduate qualifications for teaching and lecturing creative writing in universities, art schools and to adult students aged 16 years old and above. I continue to write and create more books and writing across different fiction and non-fiction areas and teaching/lecturing creative writing in universities, art schools and across different contexts; I mainly write and create books for North American publishing markets.

My mailing address is in central London (W1) - close to St James Park, Green Park tube, the Piccadilly line, Victoria line and Jubilee lines, as well as the Mayfair area - but I can work with individual ‘home tuition’ students on certain days and at certain times across different areas of North London, West London or Central London (Tube Zones 1-3 preferred). My current teaching availability for these classes is flexible. There is also the option of face-to-face teaching or online teaching for some students where needed.

Teaching Experience:

I currently teach/lecture creative & writing - often at undergradua**Contact Detail Removed**vel – and mainly in UK-based universities and art schools.

In addition I also sometimes take private programmes – across a range of creative writing types: general creative writing, creative writing for beginners, short fiction writing, life writing, prose writing, autobiographical writing, screenwriting (introductory), poetry writing (introductory), bookbinding and bookcrafts (introductory), writing for publication, editing writing, creative non-fiction, advanced short fiction programmes, reading and writing short stories, creative ideas generation for writing, prose writing craft (such as characterisation and narrative development), Writing BA and MA portfolio programmes (for course entry, preparation or during the course), and offer advanced short fiction manuscript evaluation.

I work with students at all levels – from complete beginners to postgraduate and publishable standard. I am happy to work individually with older teenagers (16-18 years old) or pre-undergraduate students who would like to enhance their writing and creativity, develop personal confidence or extra-curricular activities, or who are interested in taking later creative or writing programmes in higher education; university or art school students or graduates who want to develop writing for personal interests, BA creative writing modules, or for entry on to Creative Writing MA programmes; and all enthusiastic adult students from 19 to 90 who want to explore different writing interests, try a different type of writing, have a particular project in mind, or who generally want to extend their creative ideas and writing craft as part of a fun freetime hobby, or on a more professional basis.

Teaching Approach:

I work with student interests to develop a programme that is personalised towards their level, their particular writing enthusiasms and any projects they have in mind. I create a structured programme based on some of these things, which is also open to change and development as the course progresses.

I am a Professional Member of the National Association Of Writers In Education (NAWE), which includes 'Public Liability Insurance' for work across a range of public and private settings. I also have experience of working with students from a range of international backgrounds.

As well as hourly rates (60 minutes) - see box (right), I also offer 'Extended Hour' rates (75 minutes) at 'Beginners' (£39), 'Intermediate' (£39), 'Advanced' (£40) and 'Expert' (£41) levels. All classes have negotiable frequency (weekly, fortnightly, monthly, other) - depending on affordability and student time commitments. I aim to respond to all teaching requests within 48 hours.
