Thank you for visiting my profile. I'm Shaun and I have been a full time English teacher since graduating from university in 2006. As both an educator and parent, I realise how important it is in this day and age for children to leave school with the best possible qualifications. I love my job and receive great personal satisfaction in helping children and young people to succeed.
I am a successful teacher; from challenging the most able students in high-ability classes to reach grade 9, to motivating groups struggling to achieve a grade 4, I see the potential in every individual, and strive to bring out their best. As I have built my portfolio of tutees, I have become increasingly adept at delivering online tuition and find it an efficient means of teaching. I use a variety of platforms including Zoom and Google Classroom to achieve interactivity that works as seemlessly as in-person.
I competently and successfully teach a full age and ability range from Year 7, through GCSE, up to Sixth Form.
Over the past eleven years I have undertaken a range of roles in the school setting including being a Key Stage Coordinator and the Head of English. Presently, in my current school I am the Head of Year 7, Lead Practitioner of English and Literacy Coordinator. In addition to being a full time teacher, I work yearly as an examiner of KS2 English SATs papers and GCSE English Papers.
I see the relationship between a tutor and a tutee as a partnership. I work hard to provide inspiring, fun and memorable experiences.
Every young person is different; they have different educational experiences, varying levels of engagement, and differing degrees of knowledge; therefore it's my responsibility to be adaptable and creative in delivering a bespoke experience that works for them and fulfills their needs. Diversity and innovation are certainly my strengths as a tutor. I use these strengths to ensure I can identify the gaps in my tutee's skills and knowledge, and fill them so they can be truly successful in their examinations and beyond.
