I have a first class degree in French and German from the University of Oxford and am a fully qualified teacher, having completed teacher training at the same university. I have worked first as a classroom teacher and now as a private tutor to all age groups and with both small groups and individuals. I am interested in all aspects of French and German language and culture, having spent extensive periods living and working in both countries.

My passion is improving inter-cultural communication by helping students to achieve the language skills needed to thrive in an international environment.

Tutoring Experience

I have experience of teaching all levels and age groups and a wide variety of examinations. I have taught from beginners to university level and to students form a widely varying range of backgrounds.

I currently tutor French and German across a wide age range. My areas of special interest are teaching secondary level students preparing for examinations and supporting university undergraduates. I also enjoy working with adult learners at all levels.

I have experience of working with adult learners of all ages and abilities, both for casual learning and in the work place. I have used my language skills in a business (sales) environment, and am happy to tutor French and German for and in the work place.

Tutoring Approach

I believe that learning is a partnership between the learner, teacher and parent. Before the first lesson we will have a video call, to discuss your specific needs. I will then use this information to create personalised lessons tailored to your requirements. As I get to know you, I will also take into account your learning style.

At the end of each lesson I will provide feedback to the student and where the student is aged under 18, I will follow this up with a feedback email to parents or guardians.
