I am a graduate of English Language & Literature and hold a Postgraduate Degree in English & Drama from the University of Cambridge. Whilst at university I was actively involved in both writing and performing for the renowned Cambridge Footlights Dramatic Club. I am a certified teacher, passionate about English language and literature and have a proven track record of enthusing and instilling the love of the subject in my students. My motto is 'Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire' (Yeats).

Tutoring Experience

I have been a Head of English at a prestigious international school and have over 13 years experience in teaching. I have taught in reputable independent day and boarding schools in the UK, and international independent schools abroad. I have been an examiner for AQA A level, AQA GCSE and IGCSE/ CIE boards. I regularly work with students for 11+ and 13+ examination entry to competitive independent and boarding schools in the UK and US. My former private clients include members of royal families, presidential children and children of various oligarchs and CEOs in Central Asia. My current private tutees are the children of oligarchs in Switzerland where I am based. I am available to provide online tuition during evenings and weekends.

I enjoy teaching English to diverse backgrounds and nationalities; it makes for a more rewarding and enriching experience. I have earned a reputation for outstanding results. Indeed, my greatest achievement to date is teaching A level English language and literature to a focus group of 11 prospective Ivy League and Oxbridge students, where 9 went on to study at their first choice institution and two went on to study at top Russell Group universities.

Tutoring Approach

I am punctual, organised and have a range of methods to cater for differing learning styles and needs. An introductory first lesson comprises of students sitting a standard English examination paper suited to their age group. The results of the paper will inform forward planning to target weak areas and allow for student progression and success. At the core of my tuition lessons are the following maxims: every student should be treated fairly, with respect, and most importantly, should be equipped with lifelong learning skills which will empower them to be autonomous and achieve high results beyond the expectations of a syllabus.
