Home Tuition for Maths and English in Rochford

I am an enthusiastic and positive teacher, always committed to building children's confidence to try their best and therefore enjoy learning and succeed. My aim is also in promoting and reinforcing a child’s independence and self-esteem.

Outside of teaching, I am a mum to two sons and a daughter who keep me busy running around trying to do the best I can, to help them achieve their best with as many opportunities as possible.
I believe I am quite creative and I thoroughly enjoy music, especially singing also playing the piano and guitar. I love teaching and am always engaged in continuous learning in order to broaden knowledge and experience. I like to think that I am passionate and energetic about giving young children the best possible education in life as well as gain a love for learning.

Tutoring Experience

I have been teaching for 9 years, in Key Stage 1 and and am currently a year 1 teacher. I have also taught Year 2, 3, 4, 5 and tutored Year 6 pupils, preparing for Year 6 SATS. I have also run Year 2, 4 and 5 booster groups.
I was a Higher Level Teaching Assistant for 10 years prior. I am up to date with the recent changes to the national curriculum with regards to English and Maths and the range of assessment systems for each year group. I have experience in preparing Year 2 children for SATs through extra booster sessions and 1:1 tutoring. I also have experience in various aspects of special needs, including autism and speech and language issues.

Tutoring Approach

I would assess a child's personal interests and needs and provide an individualised programme depending. In order to make progress, it is important to begin by matching the work to their existing needs and continue by ensuring there is challenge and clear next steps. My approach is to do this in a creative way whilst considering a child's individual learning style, focusing on developing a positive learning attitude.
