Mature lady with own family, so I am experienced with exam pressures not only academically but on a personal level with my own children. I have been teaching for 27 years.
I have top academic qualifications in my discipline (Philosophy).
I tutor Philosophy, Ethics and Christianity for the OCR /AQA/EDUQAS specifications. I have most experience with OCR, AQA a close second.
I have numerous testimonials from students, who have gone on to achieve at least two grades higher than predicted at the start of their A Level academic year. Many of these achieve A and some A*.
I'm retired from full-time teaching now so can invest in my private students. I'm also an examiner for one of the major boards in my subject.
I work mostly on Zoom. I supply lots of online resources to my students.
Please get in touch if you have any questions.
Time is used more effectively online in comparison with face-to-face as it cuts out all the travel costs, and setting-up of materials etc involved in home tuition. Making myself available by email every day is an enormous help to students, as they can run study problems by me, questions etc that may have come up in school that day. I will set essays (to fit in with what the individual student can cope with alongside school work) and, although I tend to teach in a disciplined fashion with a view to extracting the utmost potential from a student, I am intuitive and work with the individual attitudes and characteristics and learning style of the particular learner.
I can supply phone numbers / email addresses of a host of tutees if you would like references.
I enjoy teaching and, as the student engages, watching him/her develop his/her confidence in dealing with critical thinking issues, mostly by acquiring a more disciplined attitude to study, which, in turn, brings its own rewards. I also have a sense of humour!
Teaching students how to gain excellent essay skills are high on my teaching agenda.
