Kirsty

I am Kirsty, a 37 year old Primary Teacher, working in Renfrewshire Council. I have been teaching for over 15 years now and I am very passionate and enthusiastic about my job.

Before teaching I studied Psychology at Glasgow University, where I developed a particular interest in child and Educational Psychology. After achieving my Honours Degree I went on to complete my Post-Graduate Degree in Primary Teaching. After my probationary year I moved to the Middle East to teach in an International School in Qatar. This was a fantastic experience, which helped to develop my teaching approach and strategies. Since then I have worked in various schools in Renfrewshire, gaining experience in a variety of different stages, before gaining my permanent post in 2011.

I am available to tutor Monday to Friday after school and weekends.

Tutoring Experience

I have worked with a variety of stages and provide a contextualised, motivating learning experience for children to develop. I ensure that children receive the appropriate support and challenge so that all are working to the best of their ability.

I am an approachable teacher who creates a positive learning environment, encouraging a "can do" attitude to all tasks at hand. I ensure that children are able to identify their next targets and provide them with a plan of action to achieve goals.

I have a clear working knowledge of Curriculum for Excellence and I have worked with Renfrewshire Council to develop planners in Literacy and Numeracy. For the past few years I have worked in the Primary 7 stage, ensuring that they have achieved in all areas of the curriculum before moving on to High School.

Tutoring Approach

I want to provide your child with an individual learning plan, which will take into account their learning style and areas for development. I will assess your child and create an action plan after our first meeting, which will enable us to move towards a shared goal. I want to create a positive working environment, where your child can feel supported and motivated to learn.
